At Bullen Conservation, we’re committed to building an inclusive environment where women can grow and succeed. A big part of that is ensuring they have the training, support and opportunities to keep learning and building their careers - because not only do they deserve those opportunities, but the industry needs them! With a growing skills gap in building conservation, women bring new skills, fresh ideas and valuable perspectives that can help close the gap and drive the industry forward.

This National Apprenticeship Week, Bullen Conservation proudly celebrates the role our apprentices play across our business. This year’s theme, ‘Skills for Life’, resonates perfectly with our commitment to bridge the skills gap that currently exists within our industry by allowing us to cultivate skilled, dedicated professionals who are now integral to our business and pivotal in our growth.
After completing a two year apprenticeship, Sam Phillips transitioned to a full-time role with us last year and we couldn’t be prouder! Seeing talented individuals like Sam grow in confidence and excel is what it’s all about!
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to start my career through an apprenticeship here. I’ve loved being part of such a brilliant team – there’s a great sense of camaraderie and banter, which makes every day enjoyable. And it’s not just stone masonry I’ve learned- I’ve also gained skills in pointing, joinery and painting that will support my career for years to come. As a Manchester lad, I’m especially proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to the restoration of so many of the City’s iconic buildings and landmarks, like Chethams School of Music, the Albert Memorial, forming part of the ‘Our Town Hall’ project and The Midland Hotel. II’m excited to continue growing and contributing to the amazing work we do here”. — Sam, Stone Mason
