Scope of Works
Few buildings in Manchester are as aptly named as St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church—the Hidden Gem. Tucked away between Lincoln Square and John Dalton Street in the city centre, it has served as a significant place of worship for Manchester’s Catholic community since the late 18th century.
Bullen Conservation was commissioned to revitalise the 210-year-old building, which had deteriorated over time. Our primary focus was restoring the front facade and tower to their original splendour. Additionally, we undertook the meticulous repair of the historic stone doorway, carefully stripping multiple layers of paint from the central archway.

As Principal Contractor, we oversaw all trades on-site, ensuring seamless coordination throughout the project. A key priority was keeping the church operational for daily Mass and a full calendar of events and activities while the restoration work was underway.
