Scope of Works

Established in 1795, Green Lane Works embodies the architectural and functional characteristics of Sheffield’s industrial past. Renowned for its distinctive entrance gate, the site has been described by architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner as ‘the most spectacular survival of factory architecture in the city.’

We were proud to have been appointed as the Specialist Conservation Contractor for the restoration of the Grade II Listed façade and Bell Clock Tower. Working alongside Developer Citu and Historic England, this project was part of a major and complex redevelopment to bring new life to this historic landmark.

Restoring such a significant structure came with its technical and logistical challenges. The height and condition of the Bell Tower posed additional health and safety risks, which we carefully managed to protect both our team and the trades working below.

Our work involved timber engineering to stabilise the existing Bell Tower.  Extensive masonry repairs to the facade and careful conservation using traditional materials and methods.

All restoration works were carried out in-house by our highly skilled craftsmen, ensuring the highest quality of workmanship.  Throughout the project, our work was continually inspected by the design team and Historic England, reinforcing our commitment to preserving Sheffield’s architectural heritage.
