The repair and restoration of churches, cathedrals, synagogues and mosques is a complex and intricate process that requires a diverse range of skills and expertise to ensure these historical and spiritual landmarks continue to inspire and serve their communities for centuries to come.
Alongside our conservation work, we have also had the privilege of repurposing many places of worship into thriving spaces that serve their community in new and meaningful ways by balancing preservation with functionality. Our aim is to retain the building’s historic elements while integrating modern amenities and sustainable materials to improve energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of the building.
We approach each project in a transparent and collaborative manner ensuring each project is delivered on time and within budget.
Bullen Conservation’s extensive experience includes :
- Archival research to understand the building’s original design.
- Condition Assessment.
- Masonry repair/replacement
- Roof restoration
- Facade cleaning and repair
- Window and door restoration
- Carving, sculpture and mouldings restoration
- Accessibility improvements
- Public Consultations/community engagement
- Educational programmes (workshops and tours).
In addition, we can provide support in preparing for or addressing the findings of a Quinquennial Inspection (QI). With our extensive experience in heritage building care, we can assist with pre-inspection preparations by conducting preliminary surveys to identify potential issues and ensure that the church is in the best possible condition for assessment. Following the QI, we will work closely with your Conservation Projects Manager or Estate Officer to prioritise and implement the recommended maintenance and repair works, from addressing urgent structural concerns to planning long-term conservation strategies.
